Tooth extraction

What to expect after an adult tooth extraction??
I had a tooth pulled 6 days ago, my back molar, lower jaw, he did pop my jaw out getting it and did say to expect a painful recovery

Ive been religiously doing salt water rinses, and the pain and the smell is horrific

I'm scared it's infected, I've rang the dr they can't see me, dentist, it's after hours.....

I've been holding a cotton bud soaked in clove oil in the hole as well as the salt water which does help the pain a little, but I'm taking Panadeine forte and Nurofen regularly and sleeping propped up, only getting a few hours relief after pain relief

It was definitely NOT a wisdom tooth, just a molar

That does not sound not, after 6 days you would expect to be healed or at least healing. Call a dentist until you find one that can at least advise you on what to do.

Could be dry socket! Basically, happens when the hole doesnt clot properly leaving nerves exposed.
I had that after an extraction, it's fucking excruciating. It was worse than the pain from the actual damaged tooth.

Call your dentist and let them know what's going in, after hours dentists usually have emergency appointments available.

This is the thing.... the broken tooth didn't bloody hurt at all 😩😩

This is beyond a joke, I have a very very high pain threshold and it's excruciating, my bottom jaw is in agony, my ear and face

This would be my suggestion too.. I suffered one after a wisdom tooth extraction and it was absolute agony! I feel for you!

If you are unable to get into a dentist - please go into hospital. If it’s dry socket they can pack it for you with seaweed solution, but if it’s an infection, you need to be seen to and be given antibiotics

My hubby has offered to take me to ED but I don't know if I'm worrying over nothing.....and I'm so ridiculously terrified of covid with a compromised immune system already I didn't want to go 😩😩

Get hubby to take you to ED. They have chairs blocked off for social distancing, they should temperature check on arrival, most doctors and nurses will be wearing masks. They will give you a mask if you are high risk if you don’t already have one. If you are still in that much pain, something is wrong. I had a back molar removed in February. I was in excruciating pain when I saw the dentist and was given panedene forte and an antibiotic to take because the infection had gone into the nearby nerve. Then went back a week later for the extraction. Within a couple of days of the extraction I was able to go back to over the counter painkillers before being pain free after a week.
