My 13 year old son has screen time on his iPad from 9.30pm till 5.30am. Occasionally he’ll get an extra 15 minutes or until 10.30pm. Last week while at his father’s, it was from 10.30 every night then up early every morning because he catches the bus to school. He came back Sunday afternoon absolutely exhausted and his attitude is feral. Yesterday was the Ekka show holiday for our council region so no school, relaxing day at home and did nothing to settle the attitude. Back to 9.30 no iPad and lights out. When he’s with me I have to drag him out of bed at 7am (unless there’s no school, then he’ll automatically wake early), so he needs that earlier bedtime to ensure he’s getting enough sleep. He doesn’t like it but knows that as the parent it’s my decision.

Do you mean from 9.30 till 5.30am no screen time?

He can only access certain apps between 9.30pm and 5.30am, only music apps so he can listen to music as he goes to sleep.

No phone/ipad/x box until chores, homework, sports etc all done. No screen time a minimum of 30 minutes before bed time (8.30 or 9). No screen time before school. Anything more impacts on concentration, mood, behaviour, school grades or sleep etc.

All devices are to be turned off at 7pm! Weekend I don't have a time.
Whilst she doesn't have a set bed time, if I know she's still up doing something at 9.30pm I usually have a quick "come on it's time for bed"
