Hi I have recently been told that I have to have my gallbladder removed.
I have had previous complications with keyhole surgery that ended up with massive internal bleeding. I have been advised against any keyhole surgery. That any other surgery would have to be open surgery.
The surgeon I went to see the other day was confident that he could do it without a problem. I am not convinced. I am so scared.

You are allowed to get a second opinion
Definitely get a second opinion but having recently had the same surgery you are needing I can say that it is very very quick and simple for an experienced surgeon. Without knowing specifics of your case it is often a lot safer bleeding wise to have keyhole surgery but there is always the possibility that they will have to open you up anyway depending on your gallbladder and the level of inflammation etc.
