Electric Blankets

Hey mummas!!

At what age did you give your kids electric blankets??

I've really got no idea other then when they're old enough to know when they're too hot/don't have accidents.

No, I don't want to hear how bad they are lol

Thanks!!

They’re not bad, you don’t sleep with them on, turn them on to heat the bed up then turn them off. I think age depends on the child, I’d happily give my 7yo one as he’s not the type to play with plugs/buttons. You don’t want them stuffing about with it through the night, he currently uses a hot water bottle instead and that works great for us, wheat bags are also an alternative and hold head longer without the risk of burning from hot water.

I’ve slept with one since I was about 5? We lived in a valley in a small country town, fibro house! And it was the only way to get any sleep.
My kids have now slept with them on since about 5/6.
And yes we sleep with them on- never had any problems

My kids and I all have electric blankets, except my 17 year old son, who prefers a hot water bottle.
My other boys, 14 and 11 love theirs.
We live in rural Victoria and don’t have other heating.

I had them
On my kids beds around age 7 up but I had blankets that’s cut out after 3 hours if they were left on by accident. I never left them on over night or anything. I would turn them on and have them warm for when they got into bed and then I’d turn them off and unplug them from the wall. My kids knew they were around to plug them in or turn them on and only I was able to do that. I would also pop in, in the mornings in winter half hour or so before they woke up and warmed their beds up for them. I never forgot about their blankets. My rule was to turn them off and made surely i unplug them from the wall every night and morning.
