Night terrors

Night terrors

Does anyone suffer from night terrors? I’ve had them for most of my life and now they are getting worse.
I saw the doctor today and she recommended some sleep tea and see how that goes but I wake up so stressed about it and I’m crying and my partner is scared :(
Is there anything I can do ?

Ask for a referral to a sleep physician. You probably need a sleep study done. Night terrors can have a number of causes.

I've had them my whole life too. I usually get them if I'm stressed or over tired. I was so fed up with it at one stage I woke up one night, saw a shadow next to my bed, looked directly at it and said "you need to leave me now" and closed my eyes until I went back to sleep. Left me alone for a bit. The more you stress about it, the worse it gets. Maybe get a referral to a sleep specialist

I get night terrors all the time, I have since I was a child. I sometimes find tea (even though decafe) can make my sleep worse. Also any other stimulants like chocolate or wine (I think the sugar) does not help. I’ve found things are better now I don’t watch anything that is classed as scary or supernatural. I do find at times the terrors happen when I am most stressed. I try to tire myself out. Between parenting, work, exercising, waking up early and keeping your steps up I am exhausted and sometimes It helps me have a decent sleep, but I can’t say it always works. Good luck, I hope you find something that helps you.
