Hi sisterhood I really need some advise, exhausted mum here with a 5 yo who just doesn't sleep.
we have tried everything!
we have tried the following
- seen gp's, paediatricians, health nurses and a physiologist
- limited technology / blue light, started a really "good" bedtime routine
- essential oils, red light, different night lights, no light, block out curtains and white noise machines
- tried different diets (e.g eliminated food as though we were following a diet for adhd) tried more food and less food before bed
- tried weighted blankets, different beds, different rooms, co sleeping
- grow clocks and reward charts, earlier and later bed time routines
- we tried an online suggestion that if he went outside for the first hour of sunlight it would re set his sleeping, so we were up and outside at 5am in summer but it did not help.
my son sleeps from around 8-9pm- 4-5am and wakes 2+ times a night, he's not upset but just bored of sleeping and takes a long time to get back to sleep
we all really just need some sleep!

Slow release melatonin?

I’ve been like this since I was a kid as far back as I can remember, I’m now 34 and still the same, doctor says I’m too young to have sleeping problems. I’ve melatonin helps, that’s my next option for myself

Are you seriously over thinking it, overreacting.
I have persisted with this for 48 days now with a 7year old. Its worked.
I know ur probably tired, i know your probably over it... but read this article, read it again and read it till you can make it work.
Yes the usuals I find what works...
1. Parents must be that over it your gunna stick to it.
2. Consistency.
3. Routine, oh yes how i can hate this word haha.
4. Simple reward. Have a calendar on the fridge, put a bloody sticker on there every night rules are.followed. they love that shit!
5. Be flexible, but be firm.
6. Your boss thats it.
This was for kid number 4 yes the youngest !!! I know routine, I know consistency, i know I'm the boss but i obviously wasnt getting it as this child gets it.
