A few years ago I got myself into some debt through a variety of different lenders, a car loan, fantastic furniture, Telstra ect to name a few.. I was doing fine and then my life took a massive turn and I wasn't able to keep up. I ended up avoiding the debt but I am now in the financial position to start paying everything back, get out of debt and try to repair my financial situation. I have accessed my credit file and checked my credit scores through 2 different agencies.. but out of roughly $15-20K of estimated debt, only 1 debt of $3K is listed?
These aren't recent debts, but they definitely haven't reached the 5yr/7yr/10yr limitations.. I believe they should definitely be showing on my file... is there a reason why the companies have left them off my file. Also on one of the last pages of my credit file, various debt collecting agencies have been accessing my credit file every few months for the last few years consistently. So they are doing that, why haven't they just listed my debt? Im trying to do the right thing now, I accept responsibility 100% .. I wasn't in a great place and definitely lived beyond my means but I'm trying to make things right..

I think your best bet would be to contact these agencies that you said are on the last page of the file, they would be checking to see if you've taken out any form of credit recently to show that you have the capability of paying off the bad debt.
While it may look like these old debts aren't recorded on your file, to a company that's looking at it, they would straight away see these "debt collectors" names checking your file and either deny you a line of credit or give you a ridiculous interest rate as you are still classed as high risk.
Did you get your credit score aswell? This could help paint a picture as to how bad your credit history really is. This can be done for free aswell.
