Hey mums! Question about healthy diet while breastfeeding. Sorry it’s a long one!!
I have always struggled with overeating. I confuse my thirsty/hungry signals, eat out of boredom, and also comfort eat. Before I fell pregnant (unplanned), I was so very close to being at my ‘goal’ weight and size, and with strict mental discipline, and by keeping all my ‘naughty’ foods out of the house, had minimised my overeating, and maintained a healthy, well rounded diet. This was done over a couple of years.
Went well through my pregnancy, minimal excess weight gain, so all good there.
But after the holiday period, and with breastfeeding and sitting at home, old habits seem to be returning (compounded by some PND). I can’t seem to find a happy balance with snacks, and meals I’m eating. Being tired, I am opting for easier meals, snacking a lot more frequently and eating too much portion wise, and slowly some of the ‘sometimes food’ snacks ar coming back, simply for convenience. So the weight is slowly creeping back on.
So, any suggestions on good, healthy, convenient snacks, and how to keep the snacking under control being home and bored all day? Also, breakfast ideas?? I don’t think peanut butter toast every morning is doing me very well.....
Any practical suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

I don't know what your budget is like but I've never eaten so well since I got a thermomix and started buying skinnymixers cookbooks.
And, the kicker is I can cook an affordable and healthy meal in less time than it takes to stop at the local Chinese restaurant.
We had homemade pizzas (pizza dough inc) Saturday night, we have homemade tomato sauce in the fridge, I make fresh alfredo sauce instead of preservative laden jars.
On the FB page, someone goes even further than just meal planning and meal preps all in one day so when it comes time to cook everything is measured, chopped etc. She just gets that basket out of the fridge and starts putting it all together.
I started cutting carbs. They recommend at least 50 grams a day for breast feeding though. So I still eat my toast(wholemeal) in the morning, a low carb snack like carrots with hommus as a snack, a big salad with chicken or fish for lunch, protein bar in the arvo and any meat with a bit of mash and veggies for dinner. No pasta or rice. Lost 20 kgs. Atkins website has lots of low carb snack recipes.
