Car accident details needed insurance fight

Would like to know any advice and information on retaining drivers details that I was involved in . Was given details but not drivers and need drivers really even thought passenger details are truthful thus far really need drivers as not my fault and I want all damages paid and my excess not used .
Parties were abusive and not cooperating at accident scene very well , exchanged details but not drivers / correct ones and in the stress of it all I didn’t even think to keep asking questions . I have photo evidence n persons involved pictures too . Insurance and police have been some what helpful but not as great as I would have appreciated.
What a hell of a day I have had , life is definitely not the best at the moment , even though there is definitely a lot worse than this .
