Hello,
I’m feeling a little bit alone about this...so I am wondering if anyone would like to share their story or know of anyone who was used in a relationship so someone could gain visa/residency?
I would also like to take this to the news and shed some light on what is happening.
Thank You
I’ve been asked for more information. Since my experience I’ve met a couple of other people who got into a relationship with people and did the whole partner visa process. Once the other person gained citizenships they just up and left the Australian...then married someone from their own country and sponsor them to come over. Basically being fooled and used so they could get a ticket into the country.

Can you please provide more information? It's hard to give advice without knowing your specific circumstances.
There's different scenarios, if you met someone online and fell into their trap or met in say Thailand and it happened quickly as sad as it is, jokes on you. But if you met them in an honest way where there was much time and deliberation spent deciding where one of you will live etc. then there's grounds to do something about it.
My experience met in Australia. They wanted a ticket into Australia. Left after they got what they wanted. Found out he had an arranged marriage the whole time. He married her then sponsor her and his family to come here. His family was in on it. I thought they accepted me and my daughter.
I presume you have reported him to the appropriate authorities?
Tell your solicitor dealing with the divorce and settlement and see what your options are. My friend married a man from overseas and it took years for all the proof required etc so I imagine you would need evidence that you were manipulated or it would seem like a vindictive claim. How did you find out? Was he in written contact with them the whole time and you have copies to provide?
Not me personally but a work colleague. He met a Russian single mother online, and after a lengthy courtship and trips to meet her and her child, he paid all their expenses and brought them to Australia. Within a couple of weeks she had left him for another man in a different city. The colleague reported her to immigration as he was her sponsor yet she was no longer with him. The last I heard it was in the hands of immigration but sadly the colleague was devastated.
