Anger Help

Im a 30 year old mum of 2, and i have an issue with anger. I have major anxiety and when i am stressed or anxious, it comes out as anger (even though im not actually angry).

I have a lot on my plate personally, financially, my husband and I are on ther verge of seperating (been in councilling for 2 years, nothing has changed), plus much more.

I feel I have absolutely no control over my life.

I dont want this to affect my kids.

Where can i get help? Im in Western Australia

Best place to start is with your GP. Getting a mental health care in plan and referrals. They will know what programs/psychologists etc are in your area.

Go to a gp and a psych. Get medicated if that's what it takes while you bring it down and learn other ways to not get so angry and healthy ways to let it out. Angry outbursts are just not ok.

Medication is not th4 key it can have terrible side effects try mindfulness and get couselling it's all too much and clearly nothing is being dealt with , do not stay with him if he is making you feel trapped or miserable do the right thing for the kids and split it will be hard but your anger is a physical response to what your feeling you reached boiling point time to empty out the crap and get dealing with it, meds hold off just bandaging the problems in your life sort your head space and your body will follow

Telling someone not to take medication is not right at all when youre not their doctor. OP if it comes up discuss it with your professionals they'll explain how it's not a bandage at all, what it does and what the intention is of you taking it. They helped me a whole lot in a similar circumstance

It is completely irresponsible to say to someone that medication is not the key!!! This is something that they will need to discuss with their GP.

No what’s irresponsible is to think that medication is a good long term solution. It’s like a bandaid, helpful short term only. Definitely seek psychological support- maybe an anger management support group. Our local private hospitals run outpatient mental health support groups for CBT, ACT, DBT, Anger management etc. all completely covered by private health insurance. You must deal with the underlying causes of the anger.
Also ask your GP to run full blood work (cholesterol, hormones, thyroid etc).
I’m sorry you are feeling this way. Hoping you get the support you need xo

Can I just say, well done on first realising this is a problem for you and second, being brave enough to post on here!

You GP should be able to refer you to a psychologist but in the meantime you could check out Kati Morton on YouTube videos about anger and a book called The Anger Workbook: An Interactive Guide to Anger Management.

I was this person. The mirena changed it all for me. My hormones levelled, my anxiety decreased and I became a much calmer mum. Now it’s due to be replaced I can see signs of it coming back. See your GP though, this was one of my doctors suggestions and I could hug her every time I see her, best idea ever! Our bodies are different though, i know.. but just thought I’d share.
