does anyone know if Centrelink can pay you early? I can’t get a loan as I’ve already got that earlier this year. But I need to go away tomorrow for a family funeral which is 8 hours away.
Has anyone ever did this?

I believe in some scenarios you can apply for a crisis payment. I think given that you need it tomorrow, that might be unlikely but it can't hurt to ask.
But generally, no they won't pay you your regular pay early.
I believe they can do a part payment quickly, enough to cover the absolute basics. Many many years ago I needed medication for my child and they paid me $50 in advance within the 24 hours. Honestly though you’re better off hitting a friend up for the cash if you can and paying them back.
You're better off going to a local charity
Hit up a charity to get assistance to attend a funeral when you're already relying on CL? Jesus that's entitlement.. leave it for people who actually NEED it for you know, the basics like food and water?
Not my comment but far out, it was just a suggestion!
Some charities can actually help with transport.
As someone who receives benefits, I can tell you that I cannot afford to take unforeseen circumstances such as a funeral into account in my fortnightly budget.
The poster has obviously just had a loved one pass, a little compassion wouldn't go astray...
Getting to funerals is actually one of the things they help with, idiot.
You talk about funerals like it's some kind of leisure activity, this is what church based charities help with because some people actually see funerals as very important and something you should attend if the person was close to you, not something 'entitled' people do.
Imagine being so privileged that you think asking for some assistance to get to a FUNERAL is "entitled".
Honestly, some people...
Relying on CL doesn't preclude you from attending a funeral. Imagine if your sibling or parent suddenly passes away... you'd try just about anything to get there!
Even prisoners can attend funerals but people on Centrelink are entitled if they try and go to a funeral
Yes you can, you can log into your my gov account, go to payments and apply for an urgent payment. Alternately you can call and ask for an urgent payment. They will allow you up to $200 of your payment and it will be in you account within a few hours.
Wow I didn’t know about this!
