Gaming consoles.

Hi I.M community.
I'm wondering if you all could recommend the best gaming console for kids ages 4-7?
We have a Wii and love the interactiveness of it, but it has been broken for over a year, so we need to upgrade.
Is the newer Wii-U or Nintendo switch any good? Is it similar to the original Wii?
Or how do your young kids go handling a standard PlayStation/Xbox type control.

Before there are any judgy comments, yes. My kids play outside ALL the time. NO, they do not have any other devices. (No iPads, no TVs in rooms, no computer in the house etc). They play board games and puzzles already.
This will be a family console, so one mum and dad will enjoy too. We don't have an Internet connection, so preferably a console that doesn't require that. It will be a rainy day type of entertainment.
Thank in advance.

The Nintendo switch is great for kids, has a lot more child friendly games and things like “labo” where you can
create cars and robots that actually move, but the games are definitely the most expensive on the market. I often struggle to find child friendly games on ps4 and Xbox though.

We have a Nintendo64, but that's packed away because the husband see's it as his "precious" 😂.

Okay, so I was going to suggest a ps4 or Xbox one but seeing as you don't have an internet connection (which you need at the very least to set up the initial software and a vast majority of games need an internet connection also).
I know a few families that have a Wii U or Nintendo switch (don't quote me but I think you may need internet connection for them too) that have mentioned their kids grew out of them quickly and ended up wanting ps/xbox anyway.

So I would recommend getting an Xbox 360 or ps3. You can buy them second hand from EB games (and they're cheap as chips nowadays) or even check out Gumtree or the Facebook market place. People are selling them a dime a dozen to upgrade to the next gen consoles and often with a heap of games too!

Don’t do it! Honestly it has saved us so many hassles not having them. Especially during these high school years. My kids had access to them at friends and grandparents but not at home so they Certainly haven’t missed out. Think twice. It’s a lot of money for a whole lot of fights.
And before anyone asks yes they have macs and phones but consoles are just another level.
