Needing some advice please, I haven't worked since Dec when I had a major breakdown. Im on Newstart but don't have to look for work as my medical certificate is valid for another 3 months. Im seeing my GP one week and my psychologist the next. This evening a potential employer has contacted me for an interview tomorrow morning. Its in Retail, selling ladies accessories, only 9 hours a week. I feel like I could cope with this at the moment and maybe it could lead to something more down the track. My questions are about Centrelink, Does me doing the 9 hrs make me come off Newstart (I couldn't live off $150 a week) or would I have to look for a second job straight away? And if after a couple weeks I couldn't do it would my medical certificate still be valid? I would like to give it a go but I can't afford to fall flat on my face again both monetary or mentally.
How does working very low hours affect Newstart if you have a medical certificate?

You will still get Newstart. I have no idea about the medical certificate.
Good luck
I think you can work a maximum of 15 hrs a week (30 hrs a fortnight) before Newstart is effected.
Kelly here from The Imperfect Mum team and I recommend you contact them to ask this question. You ay get mixed and inaccurate responses from Facebook.
Good luck!
