Fear of driving..

Last year I had a minor car mechanical issue. It was easily fix. However since then I have a fear of driving incase my car brakes down. A slightly different noise or anything, instantly has me freaking out. I do wonder if imagine most of it. My partner can't fault anything with my car. I worry about running my children to their sports and my eldest works, so I have to take her to work. I have moderate mechanical knowledge as my father was a mechanic (Has passed).
I have top roadside assistance , so worst case, I have help available. I think the issue is breaking down in busy traffic or being unable to get to my children from school. Seeing a psychologist or the alike isn't a option at this current time. (Ive been driving for 20 years and can only recall 3 times ive had issues)

Just make sure you're always prepared which should put your mind at ease a little. You already have roadside assistance so beyond that you can get regular servicing and have a 'plan b' and 'plan c' in place for if you break down and still need to pick up kids. Hubby, friend or family to pick them up for you or if not available call a taxi. Teach your eldest how to use public transport just in case. Breakdowns are much easier to deal with these days and in the city, I have been broken down before in 40+ degree heat 2 hours from the nearest town with no phone range and kids in the car, so it could be far worse!

I used to freak out about some unlikely event preventing me from picking my kids up from school.

I just had to rationalize:
1. The school would look after my kids worst case scenario.
2. They'd call me or their dad or our next of kin.
3. God forbid, something awful happened to me. No-one would let anything bad happen to my kids, they might be confused and upset temporarily but they'd be ok!
