9 Year with bad menstural pain

9 Year with bad menstural pain

Hi Ladies, My just turned 9 year old daughter got her period 4 months ago. Surprisingly she has handled it so well :)
Her first 2 cycles were fine no pain, normal flow ect, she skipped a month and has just got her 3rd period. However this time she is in horrendous pain. She’s been screaming in pain, she can’t sleep and is going on very little due to the pain. Her flow is normal not heavy, no clots. I’ve been giving her nurofen tablets and pandadol combo, heat packs but they aren’t helping.
I took her to the drs today and because of her age there isnt anything they can give her ie: naprogesic or ponstan. She has to be a minimum of 12 years old and she doesn’t meet the weight criteria either.
He said if her next cycle is as bad he will refer us to a specialist.
But in the meanwhile is there anything I can do to help her. I’ve never suffered a bad period and it’s killing me seeing her this way, she’s just to little.

Any tips or suggestions would be amazing.

I’d ask for an ultrasound to be honest! 9yo is very young, and there could be something else causing the pain, weather it be ovary related or hernias, polyps etc.

For pain relief tag team Panadol and nurofen

Go to the hospital, screaming in pain is not normal.

9 is actually a more common age to get your period than people realise (I work in a school and we have quite a few girls that young with them) but that sounds very extreme :( poor girl! I think requesting an ultrasound would be the way to go.

My daughter had severe pain and her cycle was every two weeks from the age of ten at eleven she was on the pill. It regulated her period but didn’t elevate the pain neither did they find any medical reason. Gynaecologist Said she would suffer until she had children and it is common. I hope you find answers because it’s frustrating when they can’t give you any.

Oh my goodness, Your poor daughter it’s bad enough being an adult and getting it! I can’t imagine being so young and having to go through that fortnightly ☹️. I hope her pain has eased a little as time went on. How does she go with the pain and school? That’s one of my worries with my little one.

My daughter was in insane pain. She ended up staying in bed with a hot pack and panadol. I am glad she is out of it now and rarely needs the days off school. We were lucky she was ahead with her work
