Do I have grounds to sue?

Do I have grounds to sue?

In August 2016 I had my gall bladder removed, I have been severely sick ever since. Nausea day in and day out. Diarrhoea at least 4 days a week, awful stomach pain, heavy periods which come with even worse pain. Well I’ve just found out a surgical clip has been left inside me. The only thing is it’s been left in my Fallopian tubes. This has baffled myself and my Gp (been my doc for 18 years) but it’s the only surgery I’ve had so it’s the only way it could have gotten there. My doc believe this what’s been causing my pain and illness. What I want to know is who do I hold accountable? This has severely affected my life in every way, my career and impacted my two children’s lives plus my relationship. I feel violated. They didn’t have permission to be near my Fallopian tubes. Where do I go from here legally.

I wonder if it's moved while inside you? Call one of those no win no fee lawyers and see what they say.

WTH it must be tiny, must have moved whilst inside you. It’s definitely a surgical clip and not a part of an IUD or similar?
Infuriating if all of this has been caused by someone’s incompetence.

See a lawyer! So strange. I would imagine you would have a case but a lawyer would be able to tell you what your chances are.

Are they 110% sure it’s a surgical clip? Very strange it’s in your Fallopian tube.

You’ve never had an abortion, IUD, Merina etc?

It is definitely a surgical clip. I’ve never had an iud or Merina either. I had an abortion once about 7 years ago but I had it via the pill. So not surgery.

This won’t be cut and dry. It will be hard to prove that one caused the other tbh. (By this I mean that 1. A surgical clip travelled from that specific procedure 2. That the presence of the surgical clip produced those symptoms. They will dig up all your medical history to see if you had reported similar symptoms pre surgery. Ie had you ever reported IBS type symptoms or period pain before, it will be used to discredit you. Make sure if you go down this path you get a reputable lawyer who knows what they are doing! Get a clear understanding of what they charge and what the expected outcome maybe. Read the fine print very carefully! Many of those no fee unless win lawyers charge ridiculously!
I am so sorry this has happened and I understand your frustration. What’s more frustrating is how the law works in this type of circumstances.

It's a definite possibility it could migrate that far, the body is designed to push foreign objects out.
I would definitely seek legal advice and go from there!

Request all of your medical records and information. Take it all to a lawyer and go from there.
