New car or not???

New car or not???

So I’m so confused what to do! My car is about 14 years old has been a great car since I brought it 8 years ago here’s my dilemma I just found out it needs $800 plus repairs. 2 options
1. Buy a new car, will need a personal loan to do that.
2. Pay for all the repairs
So the confusion is we can’t really afford too much extra money going out. We have $2900 on our credit card which we’re paying off and extremely little savings so if we pay for repairs it will be going on the credit card. So confused what option is best. Any advice????

If you can, fix car and then get a eNw car - get something from a car yard used as a demo model, trade in other car. Or trade it in as is.. you won’t get much though :)

In the long run this older car will need more and more work

Depends on the make. My Corolla is 15 years old and if I had to spend $800 on it I would in a heart beat! It has been and continues to be very reliable and cheap to run. If I had an old commodore or fiat, mmm, I'm not sure :(

We have recently been in a similar situation. We had a quote for $2000 for car repairs. In the end we traded it in and got $4000 for it towards a brand new car. So we now have an extra $120 car repairment a week for 5 years which isn’t ideal either however we have a 5 year warranty so apart from wear and tear we it shouldn’t cost us too much over the next few years. Where as the other car we had constant repair bills I estimate over 3 years we had already spent close to $6000 keeping it running 🤦🏼‍♀️ We finally had enough

We had an old landrover, was in the same situation a few years ago.

Land rover was 12 years old.

Me in my wisdom purchased a captiva (3years old) was so unrealiable, spent so much time on a tow truck saved up and paid cash for it, lost $10,000
Bought a new xtrail, traded the captiva.
Xtrail was nice 7 seats, but our dog didnt fit in it.
Just traded it for a triton ute, got $10,000 for what was $32,000, 2 years ago.
Lost so much money on these new cars.

Plus we run a business that has Van's.

Our 2008 Toyota not a drama, our 2 years and under Renault Van's are rubbish. All 3 have been towed at least once. Brakes, hand breaks, slave and master cylinders in all 3 have been replaced (@ 30,000kms) all have the same drives for each car.

We just got a 22year old Suzuki as a spare car as these new ones keep leaving me with no car when hubby takes mine.

So just research the cars!

Don't for get new cars need services!
