Where do I start with leaving a 10 yr marriage with emotional abuse?

Where do i stat when it comes to leaving your marriage of 10 years, 2 kids, a mortgage, bills and other debt.

I need to start making an exit strategy to get out of what I now realize is an emotional abuse relationship.

We have been together for 16 years in totally, immigrated from overseas.

I have a stable job but I don’t earn enough to go on my own but I can’t do this any more.

How does it all work? I need to do this for me and my kids. My sanity / mental health. Everything

I’m sh!tting myself :/

Just leave. There’s never a clear exit strategy. Find a friend to stay with and just get out. You will never have “enough” money.

I have just left my husband. Trust me when I say you will need some money and some place to go. Start buying Woolworths and kmart vouchers when you have spare money, keep them for when you leave. Start collecting everything that's important to you and leave it with someone trusted.. once you walk out the door you may not be able to get your stuff back. If you have someone to stay with go there. Start documenting EVERYTHING. Every single thing he does or sais in a diary and keep it in a safe place. You may end up needing this as evidence in court. Do not delete any messages from your phone. Check now if you qualify for legal aid because you may need it. These type of controlling men lose Thier minds when they lose control. Wish I could speak to you to talk about it. Oh also go see a psychologist tell them everything so it's all on record. Contact 1800 respect. If you qualify for legal aid the lawyers will sort out the debt, mortgage etc don't worry about that

Also contact Centrelink and see what payments you will be eligible for when you leave. Going to one income, you might be eligible for family tax benefit, rent assistance etc. Start looking at rentals and do up a budget on your income to figure out what you can afford to pay for rent. List goes on
