Do any mums here have experience with baby modeling and agencies? So we get stopped frequently in shops and out with our 11 month old. He is a little cutie with a big grin. As a joke we sent his photo to a reputable agency. They got back to me asking to come in for interview. I went in and they were quite upfront about costs etc. They need a photoshoot done first which is $400... do you recon its s scam? Can anyone recommend any agencies in Melbourne? We are totally not into seriously pushing this too far... more like, meh, what if...

100% SCAM!
Lol. They get sooooo many mums to sign up this way. They'll pretty much take your money and that will be the end of it. Ps... My son modelled for an international swimwear brand several times from 6 months to 4 years of age because he was really cute and the CEO was a friend. You literally get jack out of it. No way would I have paid a company to have a photo on file for the very slim possibility to get a job like what we got by chance. Their isn't anything to 'gain' if you do get a shoot (money isn't that great and there's not much glory) and realistically, they just want your money.
Thanks all. I might keep our cute little bubba all to ourselves. A friend has a baby clothes business and asked if my bub could be used for photos. I think I'd be much more comfortable with that. I wont accept $$ but she will provide a few cute outfits.
If you ever have to pay for modelling it's a scam. They're meant to pay you, not the other way around.
I’ve been down this road and it’s not exactly a scam, however anyone and everyone can do it and you’re competing with 1000s of kids for a job. They upload the photos to a portfolio that companies can access and it’s not often you get selected. If you do, you get kinda bumped higher for jobs in future or put forward by the company.
Sometimes, you only get paid $80 for a full days shoot in the city for a magazine. TV adds you can get about $500 but there’s a lot of travelling for little remuneration. In my experience, unless you’re VERY committed you won’t make money and it’s not worth the upfront costs.
It was enough to fund a little car for the kids when they are old enough however they got regular work through the same company.
Anyone can go and get the photo shoot done for $400 for an agency.
Omg these places are the biggest scams ever ! They pretend yor child is what they want just to gain your interest and then tell you that you made the cut for the interview, which in actual fact , everyone gets an interview , then out of that they see who is willing to hand over hundreds of dollars for a photo shoot , that by the way , needs to be updated regularly, so therefore , more money you spend , and in the end you will never get a callback. It’s no different to a job interview. You apply and they never call you unless it’s to take more money for more photos . Hugest scam ever and should actually be shut down by consumer protection.
