Sons testicles ( retractile)

My almost 10 year old son ( eldest of 3 boys) testicles are always up. A year and a half ago I took him to the RCH and was told they were retraticle meaning they can be pulled down into his scrotum but jump back up again. I was told this by a professor of peadiatric urology again this year. Apparently they should come down at puberty if not bring him back. My concern is the amount of time they are retracted surely isn't good for them?? I have a close male family member who as an adult is infertile and looking back to our childhood his testes were always retracted!! It just doesn't sit right with me. Does anyone have any experience with retractile testes in older boys? What was the out come? What would you do pursue it further, wait until his a teenager and ask him?( we have a very open honest relationship)

My son does, he is 1. We were told he needs surgery on an urgent basis as it can cause infertility due to overheating and greatly heighten the risks of testicular cancer if left untreated. It was discovered at his 12 month checkup.

Go back to your gp and discuss it with them. See what they think. I personally would be going back to the specialist as well for more information. You’re concerned and need more info, so go back and demand it.
