Hi there! I have a questions to ask other parents...
I am a mum of a 9 week old daughter and 8 year old son. We are having our daughter baptised this year. My husband and I feel there is no one more perfect to be our daughters god parent than our son. Has anyone had a Catholic priest make any special consideration for a god parent younger than 16 before?

I personally have not and don't know of anyone who has. But is your child a practising catholic and can fulfil the duties of a god parent? What are your reasons for thinking he is the perfect person? If you really want him to be her Godfather and the Church does not allow it maybe you could wait until he is old enough before she is baptised. I'm not sure how else that would happen.
I thought a god parent was there to look after the child if something happened to the parents!? He is way to young to take on any of those responsibilities lol he prob couldn't even look after himself for years to come yet!
A god parent is supposed to guide someone spiritually and be a mentor for their religion. They have no legal rights to a child if the parents die.
As the above person responded. A god parent is a spiritual/religious thing, and isn’t the same thing as who you might choose to act as a guardian if you died.
I’m god parent to three children. I’m not nominated in any wills as the child’s potential guardian. I am nominated as a guardian for two other children and I’m not there god parents.
Many siblings have different god parents and under your theory would have to be split up if there parents died 😮

If your son has completed his sacraments, I think you'd have a strong case to support it. Call the presbytery and speak to the Secretary, they'll be able to give you an idea of how progressive/traditional your parish priest is.
