Adult ADD/ADHD testing

Adult ADD/ADHD testing

My oldest boy is being seriously looked at for potentially having ADD/ADHD, and after looking at the criteria, I agree it's probably right. But what struck me is how much also fit me as a child. So many have said that my oldest is basically an opposite gender mini me, and I could see several similarities, but I hadn't actually considered anything beyond a similar personality. I've done the adult online screening tests, where they say if you have a score in a certain range, you should be tested. I got scores in those ranges. But I don't know if it's worth getting tested myself. Has anyone else been through this? Did it help you?

So I'm in this exact position. I'm looking to get diagnosed so I can get medication because I feel if I could focus better at work and not avoid tasks at home it would make me and my family happier. I worry that I'm too high functioning to get a prescription though.... But I won't know if I don't try

I asked a similar question the other day (with regard to being diagnosed with ASD as an adult) and one poster explained what the benefits of a diagnosis had been for them - it helped them go a little easier on themselves, gave them a direction to focus on in therapy and vindicated a lot of feelings they had had for most of their life. I am now leaning towards pursuing a diagnosis (as I feel I meet many of the criteria of being on the spectrum) for those reasons.

I suggest going ahead, it may open some doors for treatment if you feel you need it.

Where did you do the adult screening online?
I hope this doesn’t come across as rude but is it a certified test? There are so many things online, could it be possible it is wrong?
