Child Support

Child Support, I can not find what I want to know on their website!
Does anyone know if I can claim for extra expenses through Child Support, for example the cost of braces, and expensive extra curricular activities and or school fees? Thanks ladies! Have a fantastic day!

When I looked it was only expenses that related to above and beyond the normal care of a child. For example my son has multiple severe disabilities so I could have requested extra funds to cover some of his extreme expenses. It involved a mediation process between the parties.

Call child support. That isn't a sassy answer... It's possible that you could but not likely. So you should talk to someone in the organisation who can see your assessment and give you appropriate advice.

You can't get any more through Child Support, than what your entitled to. You will need to go to mediation to sort out, court if that doesn't work. Have you tried asking first?

Not likely, better to ask the father directly.

You're not likely to get any extra, child support give them a total they have to pay each year based on their income. Unless there are extreme circumstances and medical conditions. Braces aren't a necessity and neither are expensive extra curricular activities. Especially if your ex couldn't care/didn't sign them up for either of these things. You could ask your ex to put into these things but they aren't obliged to pay you anymore than what it's been calculated that they can afford by child support. Although it's the right thing to do they don't actually have to do it unless it's a court ordered thing. Ie if you choose to send your child to a private school and your ex couldn't care less doesn't want to pay the exuberant fees and would rather them go to a public school they wouldn't be made to pay half the fees especially if they couldn't afford it. That cost would be on you.

Nope child support assessments cost with the day to day costs of raising a child i.e clothes, food, shelter etc. Education medical and dental are not included in child support you can try your luck at a special assessment for special circumstances for braces etc but sometimes a whole new assessment may leave you worse off.
