Struggling on my weight loss journey

I've just started my weight loss journey 8 weeks ago. I weighed 76kg at 158cm tall. For the past 8 weeks ive watched what ive been eating and exercised daily, walking every morning and afternoon, at home exercises most days and going to the gym once a week. On top of everyday on my feet household cleaning and running around after my kids. Today i weight 86kg....I've gained 10kg!!....i nearly fell over backwards. I know its possible to gain weight when exercising, but 10kg. Im hoping the scales were just malfunctioning. I also took a pregnancy test, cause that's definitely a possibility and could explain the weight gain, but it was negative. Im at a loss, i feel very disheartened and my self esteem has hit a low.

Dont weigh yourself. The best indication of weight loss is measurement but in saying that its not a true indiction either, as you may have more muscle and muscle is heavier than fat. Also it could be water, or depending where you are on your cycle could be hormones. Whats important is how you are feeling within yourself before you jumped on the scales. You mustve been feeling somewhat positive otherwise you wouldnt have felt so disheartened. Keeping doing what you have been doing and throw the scales out.

Weight can be very deceptive and not a very reliable measurement tool for everyone.
My dietitian weighs me and measures using a tape (once a month only). The reason for that is I can weigh exactly the same but be 2 dress sizes smaller or bigger depending on a number of factors. I can also weigh more but be physically a hell of a lot smaller.
Now mostly I can tell by my clothes. I can't go by how I look in the mirror because my perception is very warped.
I found it surprisingly cheap to see a registered dietitian. If you feel like you want some advice, there no nonsense advice really helped me gain confidence.

I used to have this problem but it turns out that the food I thaught was healthy wasn't. In fact it was just as fattening as what I was having before. I recommended seeing a professional about it or as in my case I quit sugar and went vegan. I lost all the weight and am not hungry. After a week or two you don't feel like sugar any more if you can get over that hurdle you are flying. Also dairy is hard to cut but wow you loose a ton of weight and the same with the cravings they go after a while. Good luck

There are so many different diets around it can be incredibly hard to know what is healthy. I had the same experience as you did and it wasn’t until I tried a diet designed by an actual proper Doctor that I had success. I highly recommend Dr Leon Massage (unfortunate name I know!). He has a weight loss clinic in Melbourne but you can also follow his program online. He is amazing. You can even call him or email him directly (or go see him in person if you live in Melbourne). I lost 17kg easily after being at my wits end and believing I would never lose weight. His website is drleonmassage.com and I think it costs around $170 for the entire program and there is a money back guarantee. Good luck

I agree with the others to have another look at what you’ve been eating in case it’s not healthy... and in some cases, not agreeing with your body. Could you be eating “healthy” foods that you infact have an intolerance to?

Agree scales are not accurate forget them ...take measurements ...also maybe see your doctor could be something going on with your thyriod.. I started my weight loss journey 8 weeks ago also I am doing the 5:2 diet I find it really easy ..I have lost 9 kg but more importantly I have lost 10cm off my waist .. when I am on my period or ovulating my scales will tell me I have gained weight also I freaked out when scales told me I had gained 8kg in a week but as soon as my period was over the scales went down past what it said I gained ..but my measurements stayed low
