Hey mummas, my son starts kindy next year and I found a school which fits him and our (lifestyle) situation perfectly. However, the school is located in a suburb which is about 15km/20mins away from where we live.
I rang the school last year to enquire as this is my first time with school enrolment, the man I spoke with told me they don't usually take enrolments from outside the schools suburb.
My sister literally lives down the street from the school. She and her hubby told me I could tell the school that we live at her address just to get into the school and will just need to show one form of proof like a bill. I'm not too sure if that is the best option and it kind of makes me a little nervous as I am mostly by the books, but in this case I'm willing to do what I need to in order to make it work.
My sons father lives the next suburb over from the school and his parents are retired and are happy to help out with pick up/drop offs if I or dad can't make it (for work reasons/traffic etc) also my sons after school activities are close by to the school which makes even more sense to have him go to school in that suburb.
Any mums who could give me the heads up on this situation will be much appreciated! Thanks in advance x

Yes you would need to show something like a rates notice, or rental agreement, so im not sure how u would do that seeing as its your sisters house.
Perhaps you could say u private rent at that house and your sister could draw up some kind of document?? Im not sure how much they look into it, but i know plently of parents at my kids school have lied about their address to get their kids in.
Talk to the principal and explain that your husband and/or his parents and your sister will be doing the majority of the pick ups/ drop offs. Given you are a separated family with ties to the schools local community (eg family, out of school activities etc) they may be sympathetic to your cause.
This also just might be what they say cause they have to!
