Has anyone had a partner/friend/relative sent to Amber Laurel Correctional Facility in the outer Sydney area and been told that the inmates can't make calls etc.Yes I get it..someone does something wrong they get punished blah blah blah but I thought went a person was given a prison sentence, they get a welfare call once inside. This place seems to not have the facilities to enable inmate calls and I assume visits and letters are not allowed aswell. If anyone has any experience or advice with this place I'd be grateful to hear it.Tia

I'm not sure, could you ring and ask corrective services, I'm sure there would be a minimum amount of contact allowed.
I actually did call amber laurel and was told from them that they don't have the facilities to cater for inmate calls.I find this hard to believe since it's a relatively modern place and they offer audio visual link facilitates for court related things.
It says on their website they are only a short stay prison....in that case there is prob no need for them to supply this. Maybe try contacting the person either when they get out or are transferred. Good luck!
No experience with Amber Laurel but not all correctional facilities have contact systems. I remember when my boyfriend was held the only way I knew was because I friend was there when he was arrested and knew the system.
When my uncle was held I could ring to find out if he had been arrested but couldn’t talk to him and he could ring a lawyer but that was it.
