Hey everyone,
I’m 22 years old and have been struggling with PCOS Since I was 16. I have had all of the blood tests and ultrasounds done (annually) to confirm it is PCOS and not just PCO as there is a difference.
I have been discharged from hospital today (Tuesday) after having an infected cyst rupture on Friday that also caused me to miscarry (early pregnancy <5weeks) . As this is my third miscarriage since November 2016 (1st < 5weeks, 2nd 8weeks - no heartbeat), the Gynaecologist is suggesting I have the marina inserted to give my body some time to rest and recover before trying again for another baby.
After I had my DD (3YO), I had the implanon inserted and that lasted 10 months before it had broken and caused a lot of issues in my body. I had another attempt with the implanon in my other arm but after about 6 months, I kept bleeding and my body went really weird. I’ve been fully off any birth control since October 2016. We have been trying for a baby since June 2017 although due to the heartache and mental toll the miscarriages have taken on me, I have come to terms with the fact I need to give myself a break.
The dr is saying that the marina is the best available option for both contraception as well as a way to help improve the condition of my body although I haven’t heard many good things about the marina and I am very scared. My mother hemorrhaged both times she had the marina inserted and has told me to avoid it.
i guess what I am looking for from those who have taken the time to read this is if anyone has had a similar experience and how did you cope with it?
Anyone who has had the marina (successful or not) what is it like? Did it work? What caused it not to work?
Any advice or personal stories relatable to my situation would be greatly appreciated.
Also if there are any suggestions that I haven’t thought of or I don’t know about, I am open to hearing them!
**NOTE**
1. I am aware my partner and I can use condoms as a way to lower the chance of falling pregnant to give my body a rest BUT this is a situation where contraception is needed for medical purposes as well as to avoid pregnancy.
2. I am aware that 22 is very Young and that I have a lot of years ahead of me BUT the state my ovaries are in, I have a severe case of PCOS that is not common in women my age bracket.

Please bare with me! I know there is a lot and it’s a bit scattered but I am currently on high pain medication and very drained after the last week but I really need advice. I am happy to explain more in detail if need be
I have had no trouble with Marina for over 10 years. But everybody is different and you need to work with your Dr to find the right solution for you. Good luck x
