Advise from a hairdresser please

Hello wise ones! Need some advice from any hairdressers or other mums who have experienced this! I am having a minor freak out at the moment......

My head started to get itchy a couple of days ago, I checked my two kids hair for nits and they don't have any. I thought maybe it is dandruff or sunburn (I did get sunburnt on my head a couple of days ago) ect. But it started to drive me crazy today. I don't have anyone who can check my hair. My husband is away (and probably wouldn't be very good at checking anyway!) and I don't want to rock up to school pick up and ask some other mums (even though they are my friends) to check my hair for nits!!! I can imagine what could happen hahaha!

I put a treatment through my daughters hair (for precaution) and my hair this morning (my son is at school and has a buzz cut, there is definitely nothing in his hair) and my youngest is 8 months old and doesn't have hair, so thought to be safe I would do a treatment on her hair and mine.

Well putting a treatment in your own hair is very hard and I think i have a couple of bald spots now from trying to use the nit metal comb to get anything out.

Now I have rambled on my question is.... can i actually go to a hairdressing salon and ask them to check my hair, is there something else I can do that is easier to check for them. I really don't want to wash all the sheets and towels in the house (they were done a couple of days ago) again because i think i might have nits.

I know this is a first world problem, but any advice would be good, I am actually embarrassed (I know it is silly to feel that way but I do). Thank you Lovelies

Lather your hair in conditioner and comb it through with a fine tooth comb. If nothing comes out (you will see nits trust me) then you probably don't have them.
However, I wouldn't go to a salon for them to check - see a pharmacist for advice or even a doctor. You may have psoriasis or a skin irritation of some kind.

I second the conditioner and Combe and make sure you do it on a white tissue or towel...
You will def see if you have any.

Yes do the conditioner and a comb. Don’t put not stuff on if it’s possibly just sun burn or skin condition as the nit stiff will probably make it worse.

Doesn’t sound like it’s nits though. You can call around some salons and see if they will check for you but unless you see bits in your children’s hair, I wouldn’t worry.

My girls had nits 4 times in one year. I didn't get them once. I do however have psoriasis which is as itchy as hell at times. If you've been using the nit comb and can't see any nits then odds are you don't have them. Maybe head to the doctor and ask about psoriasis.

It's probably just the heat. Either tie it up on hot days, get it thinned or cut it short. I have very itchy head on hot days as ot sweats alot. Deffiantly no nits

If you have been sick in the last week or so, it may be from your body fighting with a virus. I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed your kids break out in a rash during or after a sickness, but same thing :) viral rash.
