Where to live in Brisbane/surrounds

Okay mums,
My partner just got offered a job in Brisbane that he's been after for awhile now.
He'll be working in the CBD and we need to find a suburb to look for a new home in. We've got absolutely no idea where to start except that we want it close enough to use public transport if either of us needs the car, have a lot of families as we have a one year old and be able to afford to live still. (Max $550 PW)

Can all you Brisbane ladies (and gentlemen) please recommend the best area for us to start looking as he starts in a month!

Check out Springfield Lakes, Mt Ommaney and Forest Lake. They are all nice family friendly areas and about 15km to cbd, great schools and shops too!

Lots of great suburbs in Brisbane, depends on how close to the city you want to be, and other things - near the freeway to go to Gold Coast, real family suburbia or closer to bayside, action, river etc.Suburbs other have said are nice but a fair way out in my opinion
