Self Sabotage

Self Sabotage

Ladies I need help.
I'm not in a financial position to see a councellor (even with a mental health plan we have no affordable ones where I live)
I need to lose weight. To get healthy range it's only about 20 kilos, but I self sabotage every time.
I know what I need to do and I can follow a meal plan and make progress (4ks down) but I will always self sabotage and sometimes I'm not even conscious of it. I will ruin any good work I did by eating too much of something else. I'll do well for a week or 2 but then will add extra rice, and eat that tart from the bakery. It's like I have no self control. My meal plan from my dietician is filling. And I don't get hungry.
But why do I keep ruining my progress? Why can't I get the head space to stop eating?
Can anyone help? What are some ways to take control back?

I am probably not much help but I am exactly the same!!! I have struggled for so long and can stick to an eating plan for a few weeks and lose weight, then go for a treat and then I go crazy!! Maybe don't be so hard on yourself and take a day at a time. I am trying to think if I do have a few treats it's not the end of the world just keep eating healthy next day, but it's so hard so your not alone xx

Look at joining Weight Watchers online. It's about $35/mth and they have an amazing support community of members called Connect. The program works equally on food, exercise and mindset. So many like us on there - great not to feel alone and always supportive, good ideas and advice. I've lost 20+kg this way. Good luck!

Thanks but I'd never use a company like weight watchers. If I can't afford a councellor I can't afford a program...

About 12-18 months ago I started to lose weight (lost about 15kg all up). The biggest change I made was to drink more water. I still had a glass or two of cordial or soft drink most days but otherwise only drank water. I reduced my portion size at dinner as that’s mainly when I was over eating. I still ate chocolate, biscuits or chips everyday but as I started to lose weight I slowly began to reduce how much I was eating. I still have chocolate every day but rarely have chips or biscuits now.

Follow the meal plan from your dietitian but add a treat every day or every second day. Limit the size of the treat, have a fun size chocolate bar, or cut the tart in half (or more depending on the size) and have a piece a day till it’s gone. Perhaps you could make your own healthy treats and freeze them so you can have one each day.

No one is perfect. It took time to gain the weight, it will take time to lose it. You can do this!!!
