I’m so lost. My car has shit itself. The transmition has gone and I’ve been told it will be $4000ish to Fix. The steering wheel isn’t communicating either. It’s not in great condition it would be in fair condition. It would be lucky to be worth maybe $8000. Do I pay to fix it and hope it’s not much more money. Or do I trade it and get a second hand car around $14,000? People are telling me to fix my car im crazy to get another one. What would everyone else do?

i agree with you, sounds to me like it's time for a new car. Woohoo!
you don't have to spend $14000.
Well they’ll give me trade so it won’t be quiet $14,000 but I’ve looked at An amazing car already and I actually love it 😬 it’s a small suv and it seems to drive really good. I’m just scared of making the wrong decision because people are telling me to fix my car. There isn’t any communication with the steering wheel either. But the steering wheel works. It’s such a hard choice and I’m in my own so don’t have a partner to help make the decision
Sounds exciting! Not their car or money, not their opinion on you buying a new car. Dont ask, just do it!
Second opinion? I have heard so many stories of mechanics quoting big $ and it turns out to be something much smaller. Get a second and third quote if you have to.
It’s my cousins workshop so I’m pretty confident with what they have said. If it wasn’t my cousins workshop I would get someone else to look it over for sure.
Is this currently worth $8000 in fair condition with a busted trans and steering not working? If so, spend the money as it's obviously a sought after car to hold its value.
If you have to spend $4000+ to get it up to $8000 probably not worth the money.
What car is it?
If the repairs are going to cost 50% or more of the cars value cut your losses and get a new one
