Help child back to school

Needing help. Mother has taken child out of school (16) for full time work. It has now fallen through. How can we get child back to school. Husband doesn’t have a good relationship with his child or the mother. Nsw

I would suggest first talking with the child and discussing career interests and pathways. Get them on a track, gain their investment in enroling and it should be most of the battle won.

If the child/almost adult doesn’t want to be there and the mother is trying to cater to this I.e. helping her get a job, how do you think you are going to help by demanding she go back? Question should be, how to assist daughter getting another job in such and such a field as her first one fell through....I agree with above, get her engaged in what she wants to do and help her in that chosen path.

I'd suggest the mother and 16 year old look into other avenues for education rather than mainstream school, think tafe or apprenticeships, online courses and part time work.

If hubby doesn’t have a good relationship with the child then I highly doubt he will be able to get the child back to school.
Maybe there is a reason why he/she doesn’t want to be at school, like bullying.

My brother left school at 16 for an apprenticeship and 10 years later he still loves his career and is still working for the same boss.
Maybe stop thinking about what you and hubby want and think about what the child wants and help them achieve that. It’s possible that the child and it’s father may have a better relationship after being supportive.

Find him/her an apprenticeship or traineeship of a career they want.
