Centrelink, tax and compensation. HELP!

Hi everyone! I'm in dire need of advice regarding centrelink payments and how receiving compensation (due to a family members death) affects this. I'm really looking for a professional, so if you could kindly tag someone or suggest someone who is familiar with centrelink, ATO and compensation, i would be really grateful.

No one can give you exact advice without having access to your records and your new circumstances. Call them or go to an office.

Go and see your accountant, don’t expect free professional advice on here, you will get lots of varying answers and many wrong ones. To give you a start, Centrelink has an assets test, if you go above a certain amount i.e. too much cash in the bank, you are cut off. Tax on the payment depends on what type of payment it is, GO SEE YOUR ACCOUNTANT.
