Legal fraud.

Need to RANT!!

Did you know that if a couple wants to save money, all they have to do is one partner moves out to a friends or family. That parents can then go for single parent payment and ITS NOT FRAUD! I rang Centrelink to report someone I know doing that! They are more then well off, still together, have sleep overs all the time. But just live a couple streets away! They told me they just wanted to get some extra money in the side. So obviously I thought okay that's not right, I rang Centrelink fraud to enquire and even though I have proof of them just wanting extra money, proof they are still together and sleep over almost every night and just doing this to reach a certain amount.. ITS STILL NOT FRAUD!!! THIS IS A EFFING JOKE!!! Boils my blood when people can legally rip the system off! If you are one of these people, that are well off but just move to a family members or friends house to to have extra money on the side! .. I hate to judge but seriously! GET AN EFFING JOB!!! NICE TO KNOW THAT US PEOPLE ARE WORKING & PAYING YOU LAZY $@@"&!!s .. this is not aimed at struggling families ( I myself is in this category), single parents or partners living in two homes with two rents. Just assholes who are well off but purposely moving to get more money. rant over! lol sorry had to get it out.

Well, just to clarify...
As a single person I’m entitled to $1100 a fortnight. I live within my means and I manage to save a little.
When I started work on part time I was entitled to a totally wage of $1600 a fortnight (earnt $900 of that myself. The rest was supplements) day care fees got added, plus travel - petrol etc. and I worked out to be $400 a fortnight better off. If I as a single person can do it...so can a couple.
I’d ask them about their plans as to be honest...going single wouldn’t giv them much extra..like $300a fortnight (plus family tax) and they do have to pay rent wherever the other person is “staying” so how much better off would they really be??
I’d say keep your nose high and in your yard and don’t worry about what everyone else doesn’t. The system is broken and eventually they’re won’t be one.

I'm talking about those "singles" who are partnered and moved out just to get extra money. And no it wouldn't just be an extra $300, it'd be $1000. I get $330 a fn. when I was a single parent I'd get 640-730 sometimes more one week then low weeks would be 300-400. And yes my point! Couples can do it, that's why this angers me! THEY are of fun but doing this only for extra money.

This couple doesn't have to pay board where they are staying, so no actually. I don't think you understand what I'm getting at.

Well... I think if they need the money and it’s legal... good for them.
At least they’re children will be better off.

Wtf! How's about live within their means for starters. Both parents work. Study or train up to get a higher paying job. There are so mant options available before claiming money they haven't earned. Makes me sick people who condone this no one is entitled to handouts. We are so fortunate to live in a country that will help in times of need. Unfortunately though so many grubs take advantage of the system the way it is going we are going to end up with an american welfare system.

In My post I state that they are well off, which is why this angers me. Please read post properly. I know what you mean, but these are just greedy people! Wanting handouts!

It's not legal, if he's staying over regularly then they're coupled.

It's infuriating. For people like me, who genuinely need Centrelink payments, and do the right thing, the system is getting harder and harder to manage.
People like your friend make my life way more difficult than it needs to be.

It's frustrating but it is what it is!

My partner works full time and I'm entitled to some centrelink benefits while I study (3 kids too). Money is tight for us, we live within our means but we only just make it pay day to pay day most of the time. Sometimes we don't and I end up lending $20 or $30 to tide me over, so I can see why some families would take advantage of these legal loop holes. They really don't make it easy for families.

Totally agree that it's annoying. I know a couple that does this. But at the end of the day it doesn't directly affect my life so why get so worked up about it?

Don't be a jealous, bitter person, they will get what's coming to them, one way or another. Karma has a way of catching up, just do you, there's a lot worse happening in the world.
