What age do you think is an appropriate age for teenagers to get FB account?
My daughter is 13 and I just found an account she has on here. She has been told by her dad and I that we don’t want her to have one yet tho.
I don’t want to tell my husband yet as he will overreact.
Need advice???
Thanks

Personally, I think it's better that she has an account that you know about - that you can monitor - than an account she's keeping secret.
Social media isn't evil or insidious if you have rules and boundaries (and parents having full access to).
Flat out banning kids from doing things only pushes them into being secretive, it doesn't stop them doing it!
That's just my 2 cents anyway.
I'm 25. I had MySpace at 12 (year 7) and Facebook at 13(year 8) when it came about. I would say let her have it. But have terms. Mum was worried about me on msn and bebo? And those got restricted when I was a teenager. My daughter is 5 and I'm guessing before high school she will want social media. Set rules. Certain times she's allowed on it and make her aware of the bad side. At 13 I would try and not restrict it to the stage she rebels but enough all three of you are happy with the set conditions of it
You already made rules and she went behind your back anyway. There's no way she's going to follow your new rules after she has already done what she wanted without repercussion.
If anything I would take it as a sign that she is not mature enough (or respects her parents wishes) to handle social media and everything that comes with it.
It's amazing the things parents let their kids get away with these days. Let me guess, your old and don't really understand the effects of social media on teenagers or the content which they will be subjected to?
