My 16 nearly 17 year old daughter has huge boobs. She is only small in height and weight but her boobs are out of control. She asked me if she can get a reduction, is it possible at her age? She only got her period at 14 so had nothing they started off small, until a year ago then they got so big so quick she has stretch marks. She hates them. So wondering if anyone as been through a reduction what it could cost and if doing a teenager is even possible.

I expect they'll want to wait til she's stopped developing (but I could be wrong). See your gp for a professional opinion and get the ball rolling.
I know Medicare covers some/all depending on the medical necessity too!
I would think they would prefer to wait until she's a bit older especially if they've only gotten bigger in the last year it would be best to wait a while longer as long as there not causing any problems. As for the stretch marks after I had my baby I was almost covered from boobs to knees in them so I got derma pen done and it's worked amazing if she's wanting to get rid of them.
Also my friend had a reduction about a year ago at 26 and I think was out of pocket around 8 thousand, it was a few weeks recovery and was in quite of bit of pain in that time
Go to the professionals. Whether they do it now or when she's 18 you'll need them, so may as well start the process. The recovery and scars are big, but my only regret is not doing mine earlier.
Speak to your GP. I'm on the waitlist to be done.
GPs usually have a good idea of who is in your area and the wether it's possible. They can also help refer your daughter to counselling to help her decide if it's something she really wants done and motivation etc.,
When I was in high school I had a friend like this. When she was 17 she had a breast reduction due to her breasts causing all sorts of back and neck issues due to the weight of them. I would also suggest speaking with your go to find out more
Yep, gp! Depending on state it may be possible for Medicare to cover expenses.
Important to remember she may still develop and may need to monitor thyroid and oestrogen and possible progesterone levels with serology.
Yep, I know someone who had one at 16. She was the youngest the surgeon had done but it was necessary for her back.
If or when she has it done please take the time to try to preserve her milk ducts & the network she needs to breastfeed her baby. I know a girl who had a reduction at a young age & had no idea what they'd actually done which caused a lot of anxiety when she was expecting her first baby. Get the details in writing so she's informed & prepared & can breastfeed in the future.
