Hi. I have a question id like the experience of other mums to help me. My son is almost 18 months old and the last few weeks had started throwing some un real tantrums. He will scream and cry and rip at his own hair and face. Nothing we do calms him down although sometimes a cold face washer to wipe his face can bring momentary relief. Im not after a diagnosis, I just have no idea what the best method of dealing with this is. He does have some minor medical issues that we are waiting on specialists for but neither I believe is contributing to his frustration.
Hugging it out doesnt help, a bath doesn't help, ignoring him, giving in, etc etc. It breaks my heart to see him pulling his own hair so hard he screams. Please help me with some ideas to calm him down.

My son has a horrible temper.
He was throwing tantrums and whacking his head on any hard surface he could find.. Brick walls, concrete floors, you name it! When he threw one of those tantrums, I'd pick him up (he would be kicking and screaming) and splash cold water in his face to shock him out of it. That I found, worked for me.
He did it for about a month and then I splashed water from the fridge in his face and since then he has stopped.
I wouldn't like squirt a whole heap or anything, just wet my hand and splash it in his face.
I wish you all the best with this one! I know myself how hard the tantrums can be :-/ but it's NOT forever :) x
