Christmas in New York - Where do I start?

Hey Mums!

I have just been approved for leave for Christmas next year and my partner and I would love to take our kids to New York for a white Christmas - but I have no idea where to start!

Flights I have found aren't even available to look at past September so getting a rough idea of cost is hard as well as finding a good airline. A stopover in LA for a Disneyland visit would also be awesome but not necessary.

I have no idea about accommodation or what areas are good and/or family friendly. I was thinking of getting a book from Flight Centre to browse through but im unsure if they'll have prices for our dates this far in advance. I will also never book anything through them as I work for an airline and FC are constantly stuffing bookings up so is getting a book possible?

We live in Australia and dont wanna be cheap but also dont have all of the money in the world. Somewhere in the middle would be perfect!

Does anyone have any experience with this, the USA in particular? I would really appreciate any advice.

Definitely try a travel agency. I'd steer clear from flight center tbh. We have had multiple issues with them and communication is terrible. Sounds like an amazing trip!

You can go into any travel agent and request a brochure and they'll give you one- just tell them your looking for ideas at the moment. Trip advisor is a great online resource, especially the forums and will give you great tips about family friendly accommodation, activities etc. There will no doubt be a New York Travel website (possibly several) also. Flights from Australia to New York, depending on where your flying out from will likely be in the $1500-$2000 range but keep checking back with sites like Expedia where you can often get flight and hotel deals. If you sign up as a member (free) you can receive updates and deals on hotels. In regards to the white Christmas- it's not guaranteed they'll be snow but New York really does get into the spirit of the season and one thing you can be guaranteed of, it will be cold! I think prices start to show up from about twelve months in advance so hopefully it won't be long till you can start checking seriously. You've got plenty of time to plan so don't stress.
