Our little boy (4) has had an outy belly button since birth. It causes no issues but a doctor once said if it didn't grow in by age 4 or so, it will need to be operated on. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there anything you can do to help it grow in (like stomach muscle training? Don't know if I'm being stupid suggesting that, but open to anything)

My son is 7 and has outie. I’ve seen adults with them. Only reason they do anything is if it’s caused by a hernia otherwise it’s fine. Just talk to your dr next time go in
Huh? Why does it need to be operated on? I know heaps of people with outies and I've never heard of anyone being told they need to be operated on??? Get a second opinion from a different doctor.
It depends if it’s an outie or an umbilical hernia. I would get a hernia fixed. My LG had hers fixed at 4, very quick op and she was back to her normal self after a days rest. Best to fix it now then have them get worse with age
