Hi Mums,
We are soon to be expanding our family from 3 to 4 and will be needing a bigger car. I had a friend with a 7 seater years ago and the middle seat in the second row was gone, it was just a gap. This would be perfect for us, so my big boys could just walk through to the back row (instead of climbing over or going through the boot) but I dont know what kind of car it was.
We will be trading in our family car for something second hand as we aren't in a position to buy brand new just yet, but I am stuck on 3 - none of which I have ever driven so im after some reviews and/or advice on the 3 please Mamas!
2006 Toyota Kluger. 191,000km. Petrol.
2009 Ford Territory. 65,172km. Petrol.
2011 Holden Captiva. 185,000km. Diesel.
Any help would be super appreciated xxx

I would go for the territory out of those 3 because of age and kilometres. I've heard lots of bad things about captivas once they go over a certain amount of Kms. Kluger would be bigger than a territory though.
I’ve driven a Captiva before and they’re rubbish! It was given to me by the dealership while I was getting my windows tinted and I really couldn’t wait to get back in the commodore! I would never ever buy a Captiva!
I would go the ford territory ... they’ve got a bit of power so they’re more comfortable to drive!
I bought a 2011 Captiva Diesel top of the range stunning, 3 years old at the time..guess what..the door handle fell of, head lights stopped working, the battery died-replaced with a truck battery, in 6 weeks it was towed 3 times, luckily still under warrenty. The starter motor was lucky to start the car. RACQ called countless times.
In the Xmas holidays I hired a car as ours was a lucky dip to get out the drive way.
I loved the car so practical, easy to drive and operate.
We had it 12 months, no one would trade it, no one would buy it.
That 3 year old car was 45-50,000 brand new, 3 years later I bought it for $20,000, a year later I traded it for $10,000.
We now have a new shape 7 seat xtrail.
Not as many extras as the captiva, no leather seats or sunroof.
But...when it's on a tow truck you don't need it.
But the 2 spare seats have nowhere near the room. But it hasn't broken down.
I drove it 1133kms in one hit, was stunning! I didn't even have back pain.
Well I love my captiva, top of the range 2014 model. So far done 70,000 is serviced every 15 where possible.
I never liked my Colorado, I test drove the Ford Territory at the time but it felt heavier to drive. No experience with the Kluger.
I have the same year territory. We've had no dramas with it mechanically. It can easily fit 3 car seats in the middle row. Very spacious. However, the dicky seats in the back row can be a pain to get into, depending where you put your car seats. One of the 2nd row seats can fold forward to make accessing the back seats easier. However we have 3 car seats in the middle row, making it difficult for older child to 'climb' to back seat. Fuel is also a killer! It guzzles through the fuel, but i image it would be similar for most larger petrol cars...
None of those fit the criteria of having a walk-through second row though. You'll probably need a people mover like a KIA Carnival or Honda Odyssey for that.
Stay away from Captiva
Out of those 3 definitely the Territory well worth the money for it's age and Kilometres and probably very well looked after only thing going for the Captiva is it's diesel not much boot space for prams and shopping ect.
Sounds like you're talking about a people mover, not an all wheel drive that happens to fit 7, and not comfortably.
Out of those 3 I'd go the Ford but check out some reviews. The other 2 have far too many K's and the captiva I believe is pretty crappy (I test drove one a few years back)
Forget about getting a 4WD which costs more and look at Kia Carnival or similar
Stay away from Ford territory
My son is a mechanic
And my in laws had one
Don't buy it
