Possible diabetes

My doctor thinks I might have diabetes. Wants me to get tested for it. I haven't fasted and had another blood tests yet. I'm scared. I'm scared of what my life will be like if I'm diagnosed. I already have an auto immune disease and that's hard enough. 😞 I just want to cry. I've googled and it reckons if I've got it I can't get rid of it. I've gained weight lately and was hoping with weight loss it would go away but the research I've done doesn't say that.
Can anyone shed any light on if they've been diagnosed and what there life has been like? If you had a high level in your blood test without fasting did you end up having diabetes? I'm sooooooo stressed out! I'm so scared to go get the test.

It will depend if you come back as type 1 or type 2. My uncle has type one and a large number of family members have type one. Yes it's something to think about and manage, but they all lead very full productive lives. My uncle decided to go with having a pump for ease. It doesn't stop any of them travelling, bush walking, canoeing or doing any of the things they did before. Yes, there is an extra mental load, something else to think about, like making sure he has some jelly babies on hand and generally looking after his health.

Any new diagnosis is a shock and adjustment. I've had my fair share. Get the test because ignoring or putting off knowing of you have/haven't can leave you in a really bad place medically. Plus the stress of do I don't I is not good for anyone and if it does come back as positive at least you can get on with starting to manage it.

Avoiding the tests won't change the outcome. If you do have diabetes, the best thing to do is have the tests done to confirm then you know what you're dealing with. Diabetes can be debilitating, yes, but it is also completely manageable with a lifestyle overhaul, the right medication and working with your doctors.
Ask yourself what's more scary:
A few tests that may lead to a diabetes diagnoses.
Or.
Slipping into a diabetic coma because you put off the tests.

Go get your blood tests done hun, do the fasting and every thing else you're supposed to do so they're acurate. I know all the unknown can be scary but it's better than the alternative.

It's terrifying and confronting when dealing with a new illness but the best thing to do is look after yourself. Your health is important.

I don't have diabetes but I had gestational diabetes and it was a very difficult time. It's not easy but trust me it's worth looking after yourself.

I was diagnosed when I was 21 years old. I was very very emotional and angry at the same time for letting it happen. For me it was the stress. I'm an emotional eater and it makes thing so much worse. I'm still struggling with it. After my diagnosis I went on and had 2 gorgeous boys with the help of metformin and insulin. I've got hypothyroidism as well which makes losing weight even more difficult 😞. I'm 30 now and still struggling with weight, stress and emotional eating. I'm not getting any younger and now I'm trying to fit into exercise regime for the sake of my kids at least. With the right exercise, meal plan and medication it is very manageable but if you're constantly under stress you won't be bothered to do any of it. So from my personal experience I'd say managing your mental health issues first would be the great start in managing the diabetes. If you do get diagnosed don't beat yourself up it's not the end of the world. Type 2 diabetes is very manageable. Good luck :)

If it's weight related then you most likely won't need to be medicated if you maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle.
It's not always easy. And sometimes our pancreas just refuses to help out no matter what we do. But I hope it's a manageable version for your sake.
Good luck 😘

I have a diabetes condition called hypoglycemia. It means that my sugars drop heaps and it can only be monitored by food there is no medicine for what i have. I hate dealing with this everyday but it's just something I have to deal with and except. If your type 1 or 2 at least you can have medicine to help it. It's more dangerous for you not to be tested because diabetes can be very dangerous. Just think if you do have it your health is some thing that you could be struggling with at the moment hopefully a diagnosis will make you feel better with fixing your condition. If you need to chat feel free to message. Good luck. 😀

If type 2 check out Michael Mosley 8 week blood sugar diet. And intermittent fasting. If you don't want to go on medication this might be interesting for you. Lots of support on FB pages as well.
