I actually agree. These questions really can't be answered by us and people could give wrong advice that could get the poster in trouble.
Also medical questions, "Could I be pregnant?" questions shouldn't be asked as people could give wrong or even dangerous advice.

Yeah but I know Ive asked questions and theyre just basically a my head is spinning I need to do something talk about this.
I dont go and follow all the advice. Sometimes it helps you know who you agree with and disagree with.
These people are just finding out they might be pregnant, theyre thinking about more kids, separating and starting a scary new and very different life. They dont want to read someone elses they want to post.
scroll on and let someone thats not sick of it talk to them.

I do tend to agree, not because it annoys me as such (it's pretty easy to scroll on if that's the case) but because I have on occasions received conflicting information from several different Centrelink workers, that's confusing enough! I feel like asking information about this in public forums like this one would just add to that confusion. Especially given that everyone's entitlements will vary depending on circumstances, no one here can give 100% accurate advice.
Though, I do get why people ask here. I had to call centrelink recently and it took me 3 days of busy signals to get through, finally when I did I was on hold for nearly 2 hours.

I completely agree. I also hate the financial advice questions. Nobody but your accountant and financial adviser should be advising you on these things. There may be some bright mums out there but they are not mind readers and so many facts are omitted which could change the response given to the person asking. I would never take medical advice from a bunch of random and likely unqualified in the field people for medical questions so why would I take advice about financial stuff from the same group.

After reading this post and the comments all I say is what a nasty bunch you are. Just because you can’t answer someone’s question doesn’t mean someone else can’t. And for some, this forum is they only place they can come too for advice. If you don’t like what is posted then bugger off. Get over yourselves.

Do you know that you can be sued for giving financial advice without an Australian Financial Services Licence? There appear to be a lot of people giving financial advice without this. The reason why thy have qualifications and licences is because of the risk giving incorrect advice poses. We are saying asking for advice on a forum lacking qualifications and expertise is not the best way to do things. Actually I would wonder what the duty of care is for the Imperfect Mum if they saw some advice that was clearly wrong but resulted in death, financial hardship etc. it's not about sitting on high horses but also about ensuring incorrect information isn't being passed around. I would reassess your response as it seems you have completely ignored this.

People get their information from conversations, they dont all jump and follow every piece of advice but I bet you also talk about your loan options or housing options, its talking and its helpful not frigging illegal.

OK, so some of the comments here are a bit snide but I know I wasn't intending trying to be nasty just practical. I'd hate to see someone potentially get overpaid by centre link and get a massive bill because of advice they followed here (I know, unlikely but you never know).
Same as medical advice, I've seen people post plain stupid and incorrect medical advice they are clearly not qualified to give.

And I think people need to remember that this page is for people to offer personal opinions, some people are asking for very specific information - information that is variable dependant on the person.

I agree. I think people depend too much on the advice on this page. Yes this page is to offer opinions but for a lot of people who are stressed or having to deal with Centrelink or whatever the topic is for the first time they are overly dependant on the advice. Plus EVERYONE thinks they are correct. So if one person who has millions of likes appears convincing but is wrong (seen it before) then it would be easy to follow that persons advice. Unfortunately people do follow incorrect advice...seen it before and it's usually not pretty.

Wow what a nasty person this responder is...I think you should look at your own words.

It might sound nasty but we are just having a bit of a whinge about the questions that get asked over and over again. No one has ever commented back on these questions, not this question again!! We wouldn't do that, but we are only human and just sometimes get tired of the same old 😂

Oh get over yourself. What a bs response to my comment. The women asking for advice when it comes to Centrelink are looking for others in a similar situation.

I didn't mean Centrelink, I meant the other questions we discussed.

Hello ladies! Kelly here, from The Imperfect Mum team - and I'm guessing this isn't really a question for the masses, but mainly for The Imperfect mum team?

I agree - and we do try to limit centrelink questions. And also medical too.

It is very hard (for me, not sure about Kristy) to find that line though! Some people just want to know they are not alone in the world or the only one going through this issue in thier life. Sometimes, just getting a 'me too' is the encouragement they need to get up and get on with it.

Will keep in mind though - and thanks for the reminder and the responses. Good to know what people are thinking behind these screens :-) xKelly
