Toddlerhood

Halp!!!
My daughter who is 19 months has started headbutting the ground when she doesnt get her way or smacking herself in the head, hitting and biting other kids when they dont what she wants them to do !! My son never did this ?
How can i stop this behavior? Alot of mums have said its ' normal phase' but i dont like it very much. Did your child go through this ? How did you handle it ?
