Prolapsed rectum

Prolapsed rectum

I'm just wondering whether anyone has any feedback on surgery for a prolapsed rectum. Not bladder. I want feedback on pros and cons. I've read some bad reviews. It literally comes out and I have to push it back in. But Im very worried about the risks of surgeries so want to be fully informed before making a choice to do the surgery.
Thanks

I had a third degree tear during labour and had stitches in the anus. It's no walk in the park and they have to use strong stitches in that area, mine were dissolvable after 6 months. However, it isn't too bad, def doable, just was a bit ginger for a couple of weeks. Just after birth I sat on a cushion to one side, if that makes sense to avoid putting full weight and after having bowel movement I had one of those squeeze sauce bottles full of water in the toilet to clean. They will prob give you stool softeners so you don't break anything, which can make things a little messy but def better than alternative (unfortunately I suffer from constipation, you may not need them). I think a hand held shower would be useful if you have one to clean also. I also had salt baths, you just have to keep it clean. As I said, after a few weeks, it was business back to usual. Good luck.

After my 3 children, I had a bladder, bowel, uterus and vaginal wall prolapse. Major surgery and thankfully 13 years later it's still holding well. My advice, find out exactly what's going on. You may have more than just bowel that has prolapsed in there. I used a urogynocologist - deals with prolapsed organs. Just make sure you find a specialist that deals specifically with prolapses. There's a lot of dodgey repairs out there. Try the HysterSisters Facebook page. A lot of those women have had the same thing. Good luck.

Hi. I had this surgery done this year . I stayed in hospital for two or three nights. The second day was the worst pain wise but I blame that entirely on the nurse who worked the day shift. It healed very quickly and was just a bit uncomfortable rather than painful to heal. I would definitely do the operation again if I had the same problem.

Several months later I had a bladder lift as well.

The hardest bit is coming up with an excuse for nosy people as to why you are in hospital. I said I had stomach issues
