To get thombosed haemorrhoid removed heavily pregnant?

Hi mummies, just after some advice. I'm 38 weeks pregnant and have developed a thrombosed haemorrhoid. The doctor has prescribed some steriod cream to basically assist with symptoms but wants to remove the clots on Monday :(. Has anyone has this so far along in a pregnancy? Was it worth it with labour just around the corner? It's quite painful so I am leaning to get it done but want to ensure it has time to heal! Please help mummas!

Firstly ouch!!! Second I'd personally say wait till bub is born... What if u re-rip it while pushing?? U have 2 weeks left I don't think that's enough time to heal properly... Speak to your Dr and voice your concern, and I'd even seek a second opinion to be sure...

I had a thrombosed haemorrhoid at about 38 weeks. It was left and I gave birth with it. It didn't get worse from labour and I didn't notice it. I was advised not to do anything about it as I've heard the procedure is really painful and because I was heavily pregnant there was the chance of it recurring. I waited and it went down quickly after pregnancy.
If I was you I would wait. As long as you aren't pushing too long it shouldn't really get worse and you won't notice it during labour.

Didn't bleed a huge amount. Just a little after number 2s or if it got dry/dried blood and stuck to a surface. It was not so painful when I went into labour and really didn't think of it at all afterwards. I was initially scared about how much it would hurt during labour and pushing but then during labour they didn't give me an epidural and i was in too much pain from labour to even consider it!!

Yikes - I've had thrombosed haemorrhoids a couple times & they will go down themselves, I wouldn't even consider having them surgically corrected while pregnant particularly so close to labour - I'm shocked that your Dr is even considering it. I can't imagine there being enough time to heal completely & it's going to be a 'weak'spot with the pressure of labour I would be worried that it will end up the same & the surgery would've been worthless. The best ever relief I have ever had wheb I have flare ups is called proctosedyl suppositories, they are brilliant. All the best with your new bub!

Thank you! I contacted my midwives and expressed my concerns (much the same as you have mentioned!) And they told me to wait and see how they go after bubs!

I had surgery under general with my first baby at 32 weeks and with my second baby I had surgery with local at 32 weeks, surgeon couldn't find an anaethatist for a few hours so I begged him for local, he said I was mad because of the size of them but I couldn't stand the pain any longer. He took out 5 blood clots all the size of peas.
I could not stand the pain of having them
The recovery was painful but not as painful as having them. I lived in salt baths 15 times a day or more! Also I had the remainder removed with banding 6 weeks after both births.
I swear both times the haemorrhoids were the size of my ear!
