Night toilet training...

Night toilet training...

Night time toilet training ideas!
Both of my kids very easily toilet trained with little accidents when they were ready at around 2/3. I was very lucky.
They are now 3 1/2 and 5 1/2 (One at school)
No matter what I try I can't get them toilet trained at night. We have tried a reward system, going without night nappies and getting them up twice a night. (If I get them up once they still have an accident, twice they don't however I can't keep that up with a baby in the mix who I also get up to and also it was exhausting them being woken.
They sleep generally 6/7 until 7.
I've limited drinks at night however they are such water lovers they both want a small drink before bed.
Night pull nappies are so expensive and the washing is driving me crazy......
Any tips and ideas on how to help them would be greatly appreciated.
I have an appointment to see my maternal health nurse next week and will ask her also but thought someone out there might have an idea I haven't tried! The secret formula lol!
Thankyou!

You could try a night time toileting alarm.
But they might not have the hormone required to be dry at night yet.

You can not toilet train for night time. Day time toilet training is completly different to night time toilet training. It comes down to their brains producing a hormone / chemical when they are ready. This hormone will get their bodies to concentrate their urine at night time, therefore producing less urine and needing to go to the toilet less at night. They will get there when they are developmentally ready. A doctor will not consider night time wetting an issue until they are at least 7 years old. As annoying and expensive as it is, unfortunately, there isn't a lot you can do, except wait it out. Good luck xx

Stop worrying about it, it will happen when they're ready. (It's all to do with certain chemicals in the brain).
You can't train them for nights.
My son was waking with a wet nappy/pull up every night, then one night he was dry and has been dry since.
Never limit water if they want/need a drink. It won't make a difference. (My son can have a glass of milk and water before bed, and sleep all night and wake to pee at 6/7. I never woke him at night. It's something they need to figure out on their own.

Night training isn't a thing. You can't train them. It's something in their brain that makes the switch when they are ready not to wet over night. I also think the little ones are too full on in the day that they are exhausted at night and can't wake for the toilet.

Use pull ups until you notice that they aren't being soiled anymore.

Some kids wet the bed into pre teens. Each child is different and will out grow this at their own rate unless there's medical or trauma issues. It's usually got to do with a hormone/chemical they will start producing in their brains at certain age witch can vary in each child... They will get there in their own time.

Never limit drinks, it actually has the opposite effect. Make sure they are drinking plenty during the day. It's normal for them to not stop wetting until they are older and you can't normally get into see a continence nurse for bed wetting until they are at least 7 years old, because there is a hormone they say doesn't kick into this age that helps with staying dry overnight. My sons 9 and still wets occasionally (mainly when his sick) but up until 6-8 months ago he was still wetting 3/4 nights a week. We have been seeing a continence nurse since he was 7, he also suffered constipation in the past that can cause bed wetting. Just be paitent for now.
