Ok so im a single mumma to a 4ry old son (nearly 5). I am trying to show my son the best of everything. Recently we came across a clip on YouTube of this hippie dude playing the guitar and it was fantastic. My son loved it so much we re watched a million times! Can anyone recommend a festival or something in the cairns region that is kid friendly and maybe has camping available? Also what was your experience like?

I avoid festivals like the plague because in my experience, they're less about music and more about getting as high/drunk as humanly possible. There's fights, people passed out on the ground, people who are behaving peculiarly because they're under the influence. I really think it's unlikely you'd find a festival that's kid friendly.
A better option might be to find a local band, our local market often has really talented buskers and keep an eye out for community days that include music, food and different cultures.
Don't go to the camping ones. Definitely not kid friendly. Drugs, alcohol are high priorities at those events.
If you lived in Adelaide I would suggest Womadelaide. It's in the parklands in the centre of Adelaide, incredibly family friendly, music from around the world. Fantastic food and not the booze and drugs issue.
There aren't many that are kid friendly and your son will probably be pretty bored after a while. I'd try for some markets instead as they usually have buskers.
As already mentioned, drugs and alcohol are generally prevalent at festivals. Maybe attend a local market day as there's usually a busker or a small band playing.
