My 18 month old didn't establish well on solids until 12 months and even still it's mostly purees. Our OT advised us to use the iPad with cartoons as that was the only thing distracting her enough to open her mouth and actually swallow food. They said eventually she'll grow out of it. Now we've moved overseas and she still has the iPad for every meal, only now she holds food in her mouth for a LONG time and just swallows it down without chewing because she's so focused on cartoons. She flat out refuses all food unless the iPad is on (unless it's her favourite custard). Any tips how to get past this and get her eating without the iPad and with her own hands?? She's 18 months! ?

When she has her dinner do you eat with her ? My kids.didnt.eat much with dinner until we had a set dinner time and everyone sat at the table and ate.together. now they eat everything.
I would seek further advice from a speech pathologist who specialises in eating. They have far more knowledge on prompting
