Swimming lessons

Swimming lessons?
Hi Just wondering would u pay $80per child for 6 x 45min of swimming that includes them getting changed into the swimming clothes 7 children per 1 teacher. Last time it was only $45 per child and I had to save her as she went underwater and didn't come up so I ran over a grabed Her out myself. We have only been to the beach twice and don't go swimming. Are we better off doing swimming lessons at the local pool in summer one on one with them ourselves?

I wouldn't pay for any swimming lessons that part of the time was spent getting changed. I've never heard of such a thing being included in the time.
At the three swim schools I've attended the kids were in the water for all the time allotted. The kids got out the water and the next class gets straight in. There maybe is a few minutes change over but I've never heard of a school charging for getting changed time!

Same. I paid 20 per lesson and it is better with only 4 kids per class. They also have each child in a class with kids at their same level of experience so they can progress as fast or gradually as they want :-) To the poster definitely shop around as there is a more suitable option I'd bet on it... :-)

I would never again take my children to a public swimming pool for lessons. We tried a few and found quality of teaching just really poor. So now we go to a private swim school where lessons are 30min and are probably close to $20 but the quality of instructors is amazing and there are only 4 kids per class. I wouldnt go anywhere where there are more than 4 kids per instructor - especially in the younger age group.

I pay $15 for 30mins per week. It'd work out $13 per lesson for you. I think that is pretty standard.

We go to state swim (private swimming lessons). $100 a month, no terms it is year round lessons. They are amazing. Max 4 children per class, kids are very closely supervised. My son has attended since he was 6 months old, he is now 3 and loves it! They are so supportive and if there are any problems they get on too of it straight away. I would never go to public swimming classes, the size of the classes are way too big for starters.

I love state swim too. I go there as an adult swimmer and love watching the kids swim before me. There classes are very small.

Is there another option? I don't think this sounds like the swim school for you, however I'm not sure that parents teaching their own kids to swim is necessarily a good idea either - and I say that as a parent, a very competent and experienced swimmer and former surf lifesaving instructor.

The swim school my daughter goes to is 30min lessons which is $37pf. However that $37 also includes unlimited swimming outside of lesson times. We do live in a big town though, with lots of choices of swim schools and we chose this one after a few false starts at others. I'm aware that not everyone has lots of choice.

Is this a school activity? Yes its rushed but i would probably pay if they want to do it otherwise they just sit out, so may as well swim with the others.

I pay $14.50 per half hour lesson so if you times that by 6 lessons it works out to be $87! Having said that there's only 4 or 5 kids per class the lesson starts at a certain time if your not in the pool the lesson starts for the other kids! I would be looking for a new swim school usually the local pool runs lessons and honestly it's best they learn the skills to get themselves out of trouble!! Best money I've ever spent my kids are safe and confident around water even learnt the basic rescue skills!!!

We pay 16 per lesson for half hour lesson the most I have seen in my kids classes are 5.

If you never swim at a pool or go to the beach then although swimming is an important skill to have especially in Australia I guess they could learn later.
